Since 1937 traditional products have been used mainly for pipe and coupler scaffolding. Even though new systems have been developed, the traditional scaffold still maintains an important place. This is because of the enormous flexibility and extremely favourable pricing of this system.

Under the increasing pressure of the Health and Safety laws it has been necessary to make scaffolding from lighter materials and lighter components. Van Thiel United have developed a scaffold concept based on a strong connection of the lengthwise pipes. In combination with ERREM or Stampwerk couplers it is possible to make a flexible, safe scaffold consisting of light components with the Tube-Lock® concept. The heaviest element of the Tube-Lock® concept is the 4-metre upright that weighs approximately 15 kg.

Not only the strong connection between two scaffold pipes is important on a gable scaffold. Van Thiel United has developed a unique 3-plank system transom with which the opening between the rough structure and the scaffold floor between the uprights can be closed by one, two or three planks. Thereby creating a safe and strong work floor. The base transom is used to start the assembly of the scaffolding with the proper dimensions. Uprights, beams and railings are connected in the traditional way using the ERREM or STAMPWERK couplers.

Thanks to the variable stroke height the scaffold floor is always level with the floor of the rough structure with no height difference. The floor of each storey can be bridged with no problems. The flexible Tube-Lock® concept is therefore suitable for every form of construction and every construction height.

Bearing in mind the regulations for lifting on a building site, Van Thiel United BV has developed a Metselboy and an Opperboy for the bricklayer who uses the Tube-Lock® concept scaffold system, enabling the bricklayer to work safely and ergonomically between wall and inside upright.
